2026 Coquí Awards nomineeA family-run outfit that pedals you across the water on a Chiliboat, a stable two-seat water bike: through the cays and sandbars of La Parguera, into the bioluminescent bay after dark, or around Condado Lagoon in San Juan by day or night. The family also sells the boats and started in 2017 as a hobby.
Editorial spotlight. Caribbean Chiliboats is a nominee in the 2026 Coquí Awards. They did not pay for this page and had no say in it. We earn a commission when you book through the links here; your price is the same.
The family
The About page names parents Waldy and Mariemma, with more than 30 years in sales and customer service, and son José Alfonso. It says the business began as a hobby in 2017, became a weekend project and is now the family's main business; they are also the official Caribbean sellers of Chiliboats. No formal titles are given. Reviewers praise Waldy as the guide most often.
The homepage shows DRNA authorization, a Puerto Rico Tourism Company endorsement and a Ports Authority authorization, which we have not independently checked. Across 144 Tripadvisor reviews we found no complaints; the caveats are that wildlife is not guaranteed and wind can shorten the cays route.
“Similar to kayaking but more stable.”
